About Me

Welcome to darlyndreams! This is a space for the still-becoming, the late bloomers, the ones waking up mid-life wondering what now.

I’m Chrissy, a southern writer from South Carolina. Here I write as Darlyn, a name that feels like both a soft place to land and a push to keep dreaming. Not a mask, but a muse or an alter-ego. She reminds me that if I woke up today, there’s still time to grow, heal, pivot, try again.

This blog is a home for all of my writing. From my copywriting portfolio and published essays to the tangled thoughts, poetic detours, soul searches, half-built ideas and “maybe I’ll try this” moments. It’s for the ones who didn’t peak in their 20s, who still feel called to create, shift, explore and start over, even if nobody’s handing out permission slips.

I don’t have all the answers. I’m just writing through the questions. If you’re here, maybe you are too. And that’s enough.

Enjoy!

The Dreams We Shelve

I want to talk about the dreams we shelve, those aspirations we tuck away in the attic of our hearts while we're busy building a life for someone else. For me, that someone else was my son. And for about eighteen, maybe nineteen years, my answer to "Who are you?" was simple: " I'm his mom ." That was my identity, my purpose, my everything. He still is my everything, just in a different way now.

You’re Not Worth It - A Poem

My blood is boiling, I can't catch my breath.  I see red, I want to choke you to death.  Fire is falling from my eyes, rolling down my cheeks.  I hate to cry but don’t be fooled,  These tears don’t mean I’m weak.  Everyone warned me that you’re no good,  I hate it took so long to realize.  Yeah, I hear you say you’re sorry, I know you’re sorry, now apologize.  I want to hurt you, Like you’ve hurt me.  But nothing I say seems to cut you too deep.  You got me again, this time is the last.  But I’m the only one to blame.  It’s time for you to get out of my life.  You’re not even worth my rage.  - Chrissy
